Parking in the Grödner Joch (Passo Gardena) on the road that leads from Selva di Val Gardena to Corvara in Badia.
We started our ascent to the Sas di Ciampac 2 667 m above sea level at the Grödner Joch road saddle. Thanks to this we saved a lot of physical strength, as the total elevation gain was no longer great. From the saddle we set off along marked route 2. Already here we had beautiful views of the surrounding rock giants. First we followed a wide path through meadows. (photo) Soon we found ourselves in rocky terrain. The wide path turned into a narrow trail where we zigzagged between bizarre rock formations. The trail then continued along the side of the mountain ridge. In this way we reached the saddle of Furc. de Crespeina. We descended slightly and then the actual ascent of the Sas di Ciampac 2 667 m above sea level began (photo) The freshly fallen snow made the way a bit difficult, but the ascent was still uneventful.
The Sas di Ciampac mountain itself is located on the southern edge of the Puez - Odle National Park. Therefore, it offers stunning views not only of the landscape of the national park itself, but also of the surrounding mountains, such as the neighbouring Sella massif. (photo) The view of the valley is also almost aerial. So we stayed on the top for a while and enjoyed the view. Then we started to descend back. The path was identical to the ascent path, so we returned to the car in the parking lot of the Grödner Joch without any problems.
An easy trek on the southern edge of the Puez - Odle National Park. Technically there is no problem, the whole time you walk on the trail. Due to the starting point, which is the road saddle Grödner Joch located at 2,125 m above sea level, the total elevation is also lower.
There was no water or hut during the trek. It is necessary to take water with you. For us 1,5 liters per person was enough.
It is a relatively short climb, overnight stay is not necessary. In case of necessity it is possible to stay in the huts in the road saddle Grödner Joch.
From the Sas di Ciampac 2 667 m above sea level there are beautiful views of the Sela massif with the Piz Boe mountain, then you can see the Sassonger Sas Ragias, Lavarella, Piz Conturines and others.
There is no dangerous place on the route. The whole time you walk along the mountain path. Even the climb up Sas di Ciampac is completely uneventful.
There is a classic mountain path to the top of Sas di Ciampac, so no special climbing equipment is required. Good quality footwear and functional clothing are required.
There is no hut on the route, so it is necessary to have all food supplies with you. Refreshments are available at the start or end of the trek at the huts in the Grödner Joch road saddle.
