Starting point

Description of the hike

On the way to the Lövhagen area, we first stopped in the town of Nynäshamn, where we bought some perfectly smoked salmon in a local shop. Then we drove to the forest parking lot, which is free of charge. We set off along the wide road towards the sea. The path runs partly through the forest, partly along the coast. We made a small detour to a narrow peninsula where you can swim in the summer. Although it was quite cold and especially windy, there were some brave people among us who jumped into the sea. Although wearing a warm cap, it was still a feat.

After this stop we continued along the coast towards the south. Eventually we arrived at a small peninsula. The weather was great and we spent about an hour here. On the way back to the parking lot, we decided to make a detour to the tallest rock in the area. There was no path leading to it, but it was fairly easy to get to the top of the rock. There was a beautiful view of the Swedish coastline with its many islands. We returned to the groomed forest road and followed it back to the parking lot.

Difficulty

A very simple trip in beautiful countryside. Since it goes around the seashore, the elevation gain is really minimal. We made it a bit more varied and took a detour on the way back to a high rock above the sea. This was definitely the most challenging part of the trip. We took the loose terrain to the rock, but it was still no problem to get to the viewpoint. Otherwise, it is on wide, well-maintained paths. Ideal for families with children.

Water availability

The cafe is by the car park, otherwise there are no refills on the way. It is good to have at least 1 litre of water per person.

Mountain peaks

The route runs along the coast. We made detours to the rocks along the way, which offer nice views of the coast.

Danger

The route itself is very simple. The roads are too well maintained. We varied the route by climbing the rocks along the way. You have to be slightly careful with them, but they are still wide and basically there is no danger.

Food

There is a café and possibly a restaurant next to the car park. But I'm not sure. We haven't tried it. We had our own snacks and some waffles.

Attractions

On the way to the Lövhagen area, it is a good idea to stop at the harbour pier in Nynäshamn. The local shop has renowned seafood specialities. We tried 3 kinds of smoked salmon and shrimps. Everything was great.
